Synopsis

This course is designed to explore daily clinical workflows from the treatment planning to final restoration, and how each step of restoring an anterior tooth is connected.

This day will walk through a solution which covers preparation through to cementation of an indirect restoration, looking at the materials and techniques that can be used to fully restore anterior teeth to both function and aesthetics.

Aims & Objectives

• Revise clinical workflows in daily general practice for provision of aesthetic indirect restoration of an anterior tooth.

Learning Outcomes

Participants should demonstrate improved:

• Understanding of current materials that allow the clinician to provide aesthetic indirect restorations for anterior teeth, including crowns and veneers.
• Understanding in the preparation and restoration design in relation to the materials used for the production of aesthetic indirect crown and veneer restorations for anterior teeth.

Biography – Dr Mahul Patel

BDS (Lond), MJDF RCS (Eng), MSc RDP (Lond), MSc ConsDent (Lond), MPros RCS (Ed).

Mahul graduated from King’s College London (2002) and completed the MJDF examinations at the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2009). He obtained two Master’s degrees at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute in Restorative Dental Practice (2010) and Conservative Dentistry (2012). The latter was awarded with Distinction and the 3M ESPE post-graduate prize for excellence in clinical and academic achievement. He then gained Membership in Prosthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (2014).

His clinical and research interests include aesthetic and implant dentistry, endodontics, the treatment of advanced tooth wear, crown preparation techniques and assessment and the behaviour of restorative dental materials. He has published and presented on these subject matters at local, national and international levels.

Mahul is a former Specialty Dentist in Prosthodontics at King’s College Dental Hospital where he spent nine years working in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Traumatology.

He currently works in private referral practice in London.

In addition, he is a Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute and a Senior Clinical Teacher at King’s College London Dental Institute.

Mahul is also a Key Opinion Leader, Advisor and Clinical Instructor for various multinational companies.

He is involved with training and mentoring general dentists of all ages and experience by running independent lectures, seminars and restorative hands-on practical courses throughout the UK and abroad.
