TTA Veneer Bur kit Developed by Ash Rayarel
This veneer preparation kit is designed to facilitate accurate preparation of all types of veneer preparation. Each bur is chosen to provide accurate reduction and in the correct grit size. Ease of ordering is maintained by a QR code for each bur.
Starting from left of first row
7) 1.6mm parallel sided bur for incisal depth cuts. 2mm reduction is required but 1.6mm allows for final refinements.
8) Wheel bur to reduce incisal edge. This bur prevents falling into depth cuts and allows full vision of the incisal edge when cutting.
9) Fine needle bur for slice preparations. This bur is in medium grit to enable slicing through the tooth and should be used in a turbine hand piece.
10) 0.5mm bur for canines to cut a 0.25mm margin. This bur should be used half depth and is of fine grit. Can be used in turbine or speed increasing hand piece.
11) 0.7mm bur for incisors, premolars and molars. This bur should be used half depth or slightly less as for 10.
12) 0.9mm bur for interproximal margins and mini chamfer used as 10 and 11.
1) End Cutting bur to refine margins. This bur removes spicules left at the margin.
2) 0.5mm Depth cut bur for use in the Galip Gurell technique.
3) 1mm Depth cut bur for mini chamfer. This bur will mark 1mm to enable accurate positioning of the palatal mini chamfer
4) Rugby shaped bur to be used for 360 degree veneer preparations in the cingulum area.
5) Green stone for finishing this should be used at 12000 RPM in slow speed 1:1 hand piece.
6) White stone for further finishing used as in 4.
Dr Ash Rayarel
Qualifications: BDS MFGDP(UK) MSc
Dr Ash Rayarel is a highly respected clinician, educator, and mentor with over three decades of experience in dentistry. A graduate of the University of Manchester (1989), he has consistently pursued professional excellence, holding an MSc in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry, the MFGDP(UK) qualification, a PGCert in Medical Education, and, most recently, a Fellowship with the College of General Dentistry (2023).
Dr Rayarel’s career has been defined by an unwavering commitment to teaching and mentorship. For more than 30 years, he has supported the development of both undergraduate and postgraduate dentists. He serves as Clinical Director of the Operative Dentistry course at Tipton Training — the UK’s largest private postgraduate dental training academy, which has trained over 5,000 dentists worldwide. As one of Tipton Training’s most experienced and respected lecturers, he has been instrumental in delivering high-quality education across the UK and internationally for over 15 years. He also holds a long-standing academic post as a Specialty Dentist at the University of Manchester Dental Hospital, where he teaches and mentors final-year students.
Alongside his educational work, Dr Rayarel has made a significant impact in general practice. He was Principal of AshDental & AshAesthetics for more than 25 years, transforming the clinic from a single-handed practice into a thriving multi-clinician team. He has served as an Educational Supervisor to 20 Foundation Dentists and contributed to several postgraduate programmes, including tutoring MSc students and advising the Healthcare Commission on clinical matters.
Ash’s dedication to advancing the profession is reflected in his involvement with key dental organisations such as the BACD, BARD, Salford LDC, and the Faculty of General Dental Practice. His practice was recognised as Best Team North West at the Dentistry Awards in 2010.
Outside of dentistry, Ash is a firm believer in maintaining a healthy work-life balance. He’s a passionate advocate for lifelong learning, both professionally and personally. A keen sportsman, he plays cricket in a local league, enjoys football, and regularly runs to stay active and unwind. His ability to balance a demanding career with meaningful personal pursuits reflects the value he places on wellbeing—something he actively encourages among his students and peers.
A true ambassador for general dentistry, Dr Ash Rayarel has made an enduring impact on his patients, peers, and the wider dental community—and continues to inspire the next generation of dental professionals.
